DSF first Meet ‘n Mingle event of 2023 at the Derby Museum a success, 100+ in attendance.
The Digital Signage Federation held its first Meet ‘n Mingle event of 2023 at the Derby Museum at Churchill Downs, 100+ in attendance.
(February 16, 2023, Louisville, Kentucky)
The first DSF Mix and Mingle of 2023 immersed DSF members in a taste of Kentucky, a market that’s quickly gaining fame for digitally-savvy brands who are raising the bar for digital signage. The event featured a brilliant case story from Wichita, Kansas based Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, and Patient Point’s point of care network, who built its value using a software led, advertising network model. Sean Thompson, VP of IT at Freddy’s Custard and Steakburgers bedazzled and amused the audience with his regaling of the brand’s digital transformation journey from digital menu boards, POS integration, and break-through drive through solutions – all which catapulted the 500+ chain’s fame. Thompson underscored the value of big data as a key focus of the chain, from the CEO down to team members at each restaurant “It’s our song sheet.”
Creative Realities President Lee Summers [former CEO Reflect Systems] facilitated a fireside chat with the company’s very own CTO Bart Massey and Head of Product Development Jason Donnini, on the Patient Point client requirements needed to transform digital signage software so that it performs as an automated ad-delivery system, to serve a billion pieces of content per month across the network. The second session completed the learning segment entitled, “Behind the Screen, a View from the Client’s seat,” which intended to bring two compelling stories from the client perspective to those in attendance.
The event also featured table top exhibits from DSF Advisory Council members GDS, ReachMedia, Bright Sign, LeGrand and Sony – all geared toward simple, smart, savvy solutions that are must-haves for end-users and partners collaborate as they bring digital solutions to bear to engage consumers across physical spaces and places.
After the education sessions the group continued to mix mingle in the gallery of the Derby Museum to experience a compelling documentary on the magic of the thoroughbreds who race – across an immersive 360 screen which uses state of the art projection technology across the entire circular form factor to bring the track to life from the horses’ perspective and the trainers who bond with them.
The event wrapped up at Angel’s Envy, one of Louisville’s oldest distilleries, where members enjoyed a bourbon tasting experience and learned how the coveted brand acquired its fame as an award winning bourbon.
Next up on the DSF calendar are Meet ‘n Mingle events in Toronto in May and Denver in August. The DSF will also have presence at upcoming expos and conferences including InfoComm, Retail Innovation Conference and CEDIA. For more information visit the DSF website at digitalsignagefederation.org
